Born and raised in Kansas, Chad has been an early adopter and connoisseur of technologies from a very young age.
In early education, Chad excelled in mathematics, science, entrepreneurship and business, served as a student advisor to the Kansas - American Cancer Society, and was a Kansas DECA state champion.
In college, Chad studied finance, marketing, economics, and liberal arts at Johnson County Community College, Emporia State University and Wichita State University - serving in both student activities and student government roles.
Chad holds degrees in liberal arts and business administration.
Chad self-funded his college education by working as a professional ski and snowboard instructor, radio disc jockey, fast-food cashier, KTA toll collector, investment and insurance sales agent, and open source software developer.
His early contributions to open source - eventually used by hundreds of thousands of businesses worldwide - helped shape the early days of mobile internet and several modern web browser technologies in use today.
After college, Chad worked in marketing and web development roles; and created free internet services that allow small businesses to manage their own payment processing, scheduling, and voice and cellular communications.
Presently, Chad is a founding team member and vice president of Scout - a small, Chicago-based startup that offers DIY home security, home automation, and IoT (Internet-of-Things) solutions for consumers, businesses, and other IoT companies.
At Scout, Chad helped grow the business from launch to IPO, and continues to work closely with teams at Amazon, Google, and partners around the world, to ensure Scout delivers the best connected device and security platforms available.
